01PLOT

The Turtles are eavesdropping on a lecture by a scientist, Dr. Alvin Huxley, who has created a protein computer, much to the delight of Donatello and the disinterest of the others. Mobsters run in and try to steal the computer, but the Turtles thwart the attempt.

At the lair, they detect transporter energy, and head out to check it out.

It turns out the mobsters are working for an amorphous alien creature called the Globfather, and he was hired to steal the protein computer. They infiltrate a military base where Huxley and his computer are hidden, but the Turtles are unable to stop them because the Globfather threatens to turn Raphael into a blob creature like himself. Leonardo manages to save Raphael by cutting the goo from his body.

Examining the security footage tells the Turtles that the protein computer has actually been taken by the professor's son, inside his toy car. An APB is put out on the child, and the turtles manage to find him... but so does the Globfather. He forces them to choose between the boy and the protein computer, and unsurprisingly they choose the kid.

It's revealed that the Globfather is working for Lord Dregg, who plans to use the protein computer to give himself incredible mind powers. And despite being stranded in Dimension X, he's been working on a new Dreggnaught and transporter.

The Globfather uses the protein computer to hijack every computer connection on the planet... including the weapons and steering in the Turtle Van. Dregg teleports to Earth and begins turning Earth's satellites against it - he gives the nations of Earth fifteen minutes to surrender, or he will use the satellites against the world's cities. Reluctantly, the leaders of the world agree.

Donatello creates a helmet that should give him the same abilities as Dregg, and the other Turtles engage their enemies while Donatello uses it to redirect the satellite beams. The Globfather is vacuumed into a convenient machine nearby, and Dregg beams himself back off of Earth, vowing revenge on the Turtles.

05NOTES & GOOFS

  • When Ronnie uses his RC car to rip the trouser leg of one of the Globfather's henchman, his trousers are suddenly repaired a few shots later and remain that way for the rest of the scene.
  • Michelangelo uses the same button on the security tape recorder to rewind and fast forward the footage.
  • When Ronnie enters the streets on his skateboard, he passes _over_ trashcans due to a layering issue.
  • When the Globfather takes control of the Turtle Van's weapons and causes a communications tower to fall, the lettering on the front of the van is black instead of white.
  • The Globfather oozes out of his clothes when he exits the locked car... and yet he has the clothes again a few minutes later.
  • When the Van goes out of control, Raphael's mouth starts speaking before his voice does.
  • When Donatello has just finished his own control helmet, he suddenly transforms into Raphael for a shot.

06TRIVIA

  • The Globfather's name is a parody on that of _The Godfather_, while Globfather himself is merely based on Al Capone.
  • This episode more closely resembles the older, lighter style of episodes, with such stunts as Raphael tripping up a mobster with a stream of soda pop cans. Despite this, it still contains darker material, such as the Globfather dissolving one of his mobsters into a protoplasmic blob and Raphael nearly meeting the same fate.
  • This might be attributed to the fact that David Wise was brought back by Jeffrey Scott as a ghostwriter, since he couldn't figure out how to write for the characters.
  • On that same note: the episode kept us guessing who the Globfather was supposed to be working for, despite all the clues pointing to Dregg. In the previous episode, Dregg, Krang and Shredder were sent to Dimension X with each side wanting a piece of the other and Krang and Shredder's plot to overthrow Dregg and take over his ship and crew.
  • The mobster turned into a protoplasmic blob appears as a human once again in the scene when the Globfather's car arrives to catch Ronnie. He may be turned back into human by Globfather, or this may be a continuity/animation error.
